IVMS Partner Spotlight: Autônomo Digicore 2

When it comes to installing in-vehicle and fleet technology, experience on the ground matters. That’s why Digicore works with partners who understand real-world operations, not just systems on paper. Autonomo is one of those partners.

Founded in 2018, Autonomo is a proudly Australian-owned business specialising in the design, installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of automation and fleet technology. With purpose-built facilities in Perth and a new office and workshop in Paget, Queensland, Autonomo brings true national coverage backed by depth, scale, and consistency.

At the centre of the business is Managing Director Gerard McNamara, a hands-on leader known for his calm, practical approach and genuine care for both customers and crews. Gerard has built Autonomo around a simple idea: do the job properly, support people on site, and stand behind the work long after the install is complete.

Professional installs, done properly

Autonomo’s team works across complex mining and industrial environments, delivering installs that are consistent, compliant, and built to last. From Digicore IVMS installations through to broader fleet and automation systems, their technicians understand the importance of clean wiring, correct camera placement, reliable power, and thorough testing.

Just as important is how their work is communicated. Autonomo’s installation reports meet the standard Digicore expects and provide a clear, practical communication tool between Digicore, the customer, and Autonomo. That transparency reduces follow-up questions, speeds up handover, and gives all parties confidence that the installation has been completed correctly.

They don’t rush installs to meet a number. They focus on doing it right the first time.

The people behind the workmanship

Autonomo’s strength comes from its people and its scale. With more than 70 technicians nationally, the business has the depth to support large rollouts while still maintaining attention to detail on individual installs.

In Wangara, WA, Josh Levett, Project Lead, brings structure and clarity to complex installation programs, keeping work moving while maintaining quality. Working alongside him, Michael Apap adds strong technical capability and a practical, site-focused mindset that shows in the finished work.

On the East Coast, Jeremy O’Byrne, Operations Manager, plays a key role in ensuring Autonomo delivers the same standard nationwide. From resourcing and scheduling through to quality control and process, Jeremy helps keep the national operation aligned so site teams can focus on safe, professional installs.

Together, they reflect what customers value most in an installation partner: clear communication, professionalism on site, and confidence in the outcome.

Built-in capability, not workarounds

Autonomo’s capability extends well beyond installation. The business designs and deploys supporting infrastructure such as solar-powered network trailers, skids, boom gates, electrical control stations, and communications systems.

They also operate in-house fabrication, including a laser cutting machine that allows them to custom design and manufacture parts for light vehicles, trucks, and specialist applications. This flexibility means installs are properly engineered to suit the vehicle and task, rather than relying on generic brackets or compromises.

Investing in skills through Autônomo Academy

Autonomo is also investing in the future of the industry through Autônomo Academy, a practical training initiative designed to lift capability across autonomous and mining environments.

The team recently showcased the Academy at the 2nd Annual Global Robotics & Automation Technology Showcase, highlighting their commitment to hands-on, real-world training. Module 1 – Fundamentals: Electrical / Mechanical / Introduction to AHS has been purpose-designed for technicians looking to upskill before arriving onsite.

Whether entering the mining technology sector or strengthening existing experience, the course provides a solid foundation to step confidently into autonomous operations. It’s another example of Autonomo’s long-term approach: building capability, not just delivering jobs.
