Key takeaways for Starlink and Camera WiFi
A camera that can’t send what it sees only records what happened. On remote sites that’s easy to forget. The AI dashcam is mounted and the lens is clean, and the alerts go off in the cab, but the footage sits on the device until the vehicle drives back into mobile coverage. Starlink and Camera Wi-Fi close that gap.
Every Fleet Cam and Omni Cam has a built-in Wi-Fi connection. If your vehicles or site camps already run Starlink, you can connect your dashcam to that network and it will send everything it normally sends over cellular, including events, video footage and trip data, even well past the last mobile tower.

What you need before setting up Starlink and Camera Wi-Fi
Two things catch people out, so check them first.
- An Installer login for the RideView Companion App. A Driver login doesn’t show the Wi-Fi settings.
- Cellular coverage for the first setup. The camera has to register on the mobile network before you can switch it over to Wi-Fi, so do it at the depot or yard before the vehicle heads out, not on site.
How to connect your dashcam to Starlink
- Download the RideView Companion App and log in with your Installer account.
- Start the vehicle and connect your phone to the camera.
- Add your Starlink network by entering the Wi-Fi name and password.
- Check the connection. The LED should flash green every 15 seconds, and the camera will announce “Connected to External Hotspot”.
You only need to do this once per vehicle, or again if the Wi-Fi network changes. Our step by step Camera Wi-Fi guide walks through each screen.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Digicore dashcam connect to Starlink? Yes. Fleet Cam and Omni Cam can both connect to a Starlink Wi-Fi network through the RideView Companion App.
Why can’t I see the Wi-Fi option in the app? You’re most likely logged in as a Driver. Log in with an Installer account.
Can I set up Camera Wi-Fi in a remote area with no mobile coverage? No. Do the first setup within cellular range, then the camera can use Starlink once it’s out of coverage.
Does the camera send the same data over Starlink as over mobile? Yes. Anything the camera sends over the mobile network, it sends over Camera Wi-Fi, including events, video footage and trip data.
None of this replaces a good safety culture or a supervisor who knows the crew. What it does mean is that a fatigue alert on a remote haul road reaches someone while it still matters.
